Growth is Inevitable
Now we start talking about the hard shit, right? Growth, this is the part that hurts.
The same thing transpires in our spiritual body in the next stage of transformation known as, Self-Realization, a painful self-discovery into your ego exposing your insecurities, blockages, and poor habits.
During this period you will experience what I like to call “growing pains”. Honesty with self is so important in this stage. You have to tell the truth of what is standing in the way of your growth even if it hurts your feelings. You must shed those insecurities, blockages, and habits, so that you may experience the expansion of growth. That may be a relationship, friendships, jobs, etc…
In keeping with the whole butterfly theme, this is the “caterpillar” . Think about the birds, the caterpillars main predator. Birds greatly benefit when the catrerpillar is slowly crawling as a delicious, easy to catch dinner. Birds also eat butterflies but they have to effort to catch them, and who wants to effort right? So, they would quite enjoy if caterpillars stayed caterpillars.
The same works for us as we grow spiritually. There will be many relationships that will suffer from your growth because as you grow they will lose whatever benefit they get from you staying as you once were, available, small, and easy to prey upon.
I am a mother of course and often my daughter will say “my knee hurts” or “my ankle hurts”. I will reply “Yeah I remember that, those are just growing pains”. Then she’ll wake up an inch taller. In that moment it’s like she and I realize wow, she is really growing up. I will start to get emotional and ask her to quit growing and she’ll say “ Mom I can’t help it. I gotta grow up.” She is right, I want her to stop growing so that I can keep her at this tender sweet age, where life is easy and she still listens to me and likes my company. Her not growing would benefit me right now, but it would stagnate her growth and postpone the life that God has planned for her if she didn’t.
So if I took it further and actually tried to keep her a little girl forever, there would inevitably be some pushback because, SHE HAS TO GROW!
So does the caterpillar, and so do you.
In this stage of growth don’t allow anything to get in your way and stagnate your growth. All of the things that you take in, and who you are surrounded by, must feed you, encourage growth, and expansion. Your diet as a caterpillar is essential. What you take into that chrysalis, all that you are in this form, will be used in the transformation into the butterfly. Staying a caterpillar is not an option. You must transform.
What are you going to let go of and what are you going to take into the next stage?
What kind of butterfly will you be?
