Keep Your Eye on the Why.
Spiritual awakening is a journey or a trip. My soul is the drive, my body is the vehicle, and God is the GPS. The road I am to follow is purpose or as I like to call it my “why”. Living this way has made my spiritual awakening tolerable in times where I am like what the fuck did I get myself into? Why did I agree to this trip?
This is no short easy trip either. It has so many twists, turns, and tough terrain. As I travel this long road I end up in deadlocked traffic, hit potholes, get distracted, take my eyes off of the road, and sometimes have accidents. There have been times when I missed my exit or got off on the wrong exit. That is just part of it all.
Although this journey belongs to my soul, my ego has to come along for the ride, to help me navigate the terrain of earth and human relating. Handing the wheel over to my ego is a risky decision, but because I am human the use of my ego on this journey is necessary.
Unfortunately, my ego often thinks that it can get us to where we are going without using the GPS. When that happens typically shit hits the fan. We end hitting something or someone, miss our exit, or get so lost that we have to ask for directions, because we have gotten sooo off course I don’t even trust the GPS to know the location.
There have been so many times on my journey where this has happened. The awesome thing is, I have always been able to get back on course. This time I have been able to bring my ego to accept that it has no idea where we are headed.
Only my GPS, God, knows and that is why I must trust it the entire trip. Unlike manmade technology, God always knows about the detours, the traffic jams, and construction. God even knows about the potholes.
I have come to realize that the main cause of accidents or misdirection on the spiritual path, originate from taking my eye off of the “why”. The why changes constantly, but we cannot let that throw us off. We have to remember unfamiliar terrain doesn’t mean that you are going the wrong way.
If you are still tuned in you probably asked, where the hell am I going on this journey anyway. “What is the destination?”, you might ask. The destination is peace. That’s right, PEACE. Peace is not a physical location it is a spiritual condition. We can only get to this condition through God.
The peace of God can only be found by following God’s guidance, because peace resides with God.
May you remember that you are never alone on this journey. Never lose sight of the why, and always remember the destination. You have the ultimate guidance system right there with you all that you have to do is trust it follow it.
